SUPPORTING NATIVE PLANTS FOR OUR FUTURE
GRANT REQUIREMENTS:
Eligible Grant Recipients Include
Non-profit organizations, members of the public, school, park, township, library, house of worship, or community centers in the Green Bay or surrounding area.
Purpose of the Site
Must be to establish, restore or reconstruct native plantings creating healthier, more beautiful landscapes and native gardens. The site should be visible to the public.
Plants
Species used must be native to Wisconsin including plants, flowers, grasses, trees, shrubs and seeds of native plants. No cultivars or navitars can be used. All plants must be certified pesticide free, especially neonicotinoids. Species used cannot be dug from the wild for transplant.
Grant Funds
Grants are $500. Funds cannot be used for consultants, fuel, equipment, labor, books, land acquisition or any non-native plant or cultivar.
NOTE: Fifty percent (50%) of the funds will be distributed at the start of the project, with the remaining 50% provided upon project completion (exceptions may be made if a municipality requirement).
Budget
A budget will be required. The budget should include an itemized list of expenses like, site preparation, plant and seed costs, soil amendments.
Signage
A Wild Ones “Native Plantings” sign will be given to grant award winners to display on property grounds.
Timeline
All grant applications must be submitted by February 15. A chapter member will conduct a site visit in July, and the project must be completed by September in order to receive remaining funds.
